First and foremost, I am a wife and mother of two children. My daughter was born without pain medication at North Austin Medical Center in 2003. My son was born at Austin Area Birthing Center in 2006. I did not have a doula at either birth. However, those births helped shape the woman I am today. I had a strong coach in my husband, but would have benefitted greatly from a doula at my daughter's birth.

Our third child, due in January of 2012, will likely be born at home. In anticipation of our new arrival, I am not currently accepting new clients.

I knit, sew, cross-stitch and read in my not-so-spare time. I love theater and music. I tinker with the piano, but haven't really played in years. I was once an electrical engineer, but my skills there are a bit rusty. I still consider myself a bit of a geek.

My parenting style is attachment parenting based. We have shared a bed off and on with both of our children. We wore both of our children through their infancy and my son still tolerates it for long outings. I believe in the benefits of extended breastfeeding and hope, someday, to add Lactation Consultant to my list of titles. I realize, however, that everyone has their own style and don't seek to push my values on anyone else.

We cloth diapered our son for his first year and a half. I use mama cloth. I am sold on the benefits of both, but also rely on disposables with some regularity. I did a great deal of research prior to choosing cloth and will happily discuss the advantages and disadvantages of many brands and methods for long periods of time.

For the most part, I am an open book. I love to answer questions and invite you send me an
email asking any you might have.
